Ace of The SpadeThe Spade - Secondary A

If you only have time for one sightseeing stop, make it The Glasgow School of Art. The Mackintosh building, widely considered Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s masterwork, is a magnificent example of the architecture heralded by Mackintosh in the early 20th century. The recent addition of the ultra modern Reid Building offers a juxtaposition of the old and the new, next to none. After a recent fire, the internal tours of the Mackintosh building have been suspended, however tours of the exterior and the new ‘Window on Mackintosh’ are available, as well as city walking tours. The new Reid Building also offers tours, but only as privately booked tours at present. Tours are lead by past and current students of the school, offering up interesting stories and facts while you experience the dynamic environment. Do not leave before stopping in at the Gift Shop; it is full of beautifully designed items you won’t want to resist.
