Slightly off the beaten path, and not far from the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, Roast is worth seeking out. The Finnieston area of Glasgow has a certain solace to it, offering a slightly different atmosphere than the busier areas of the West End and city centre, befitting of this café to a T. Roast‘s beans are sourced from Dear Green Coffee Roasters, a local roastery supplying many of Glasgow’s best coffee houses, including Laboratorio Espresso.
As the name suggests, coffee is the business, but Roast takes food just as seriously here. The sandwiches are renowned; with locally sourced and in-house produced ingredients the menu is full of too-many-to-choose-from options. Both breakfast and lunch are catered to with deliberate generosity of flavour, the belly warming soup a treat on a cold day. Roast has a row of seats in the front window, perfect for savouring your coffee and meal – as well as staring at the world wandering by outside.
