Ace of The SpadeThe Spade - Secondary A

Jimmy’s Coffee is the Ace of The Spade for Toronto’s Best Coffee. In a city rapidly filling with independent coffee roasters and cafes, Jimmy’s Coffee blazed a trail back in 2009 when the city was still immersed in Tim Horton’s and Starbucks’ coffee folklore. Those chains are still around, but Jimmy’s Coffee offered a new alternative to the antiquated tastes available. And many others have followed. However, Jimmy’s Coffee is still The Spade’s pick of the bunch, Ace of The Spade if you will.

Espresso based drinks are the pick of the menu. For lovers of strong coffee, a Cortado is what you will want to order. Jimmy’s style with the ever pleasant Cortardo is a standard double shot with a dash of cream and milk, frothed before your very eyes, served in a small glass, filled about 3/4 to the brim. We will admit that that although our love for Jimmy’s Coffee is strong, the consistency can be off, and what you get will depend on who is working the machine.

Jimmy’s Coffee also stocks an array of muffins, pastries, sweet treats, and baked goods all day. Also yogurts, fruit juices, salads and sandwiches until they sell out.

Jimmys Baldwin St Patio

There are now three locations to choose from – Portland Street (the original), Baldwin Street and Gerrard Street West – each with a slightly different vibe but all have wifi, outlets, plenty of seating and a patio for when the weather permits, making whichever location you choose a great place to sit. Of course, you can also grab and go.

What to order:

Coffee:
Strong – Cortado
Moderate – Americano (baristas will ask if you want a single or double shot)
Something Different – Coconut Milk Latte

Food:
If you are there in the morning, you most certainly should order a ‘hoagie’ – a herbed bread-like pocket stuffed with scrambled eggs and cheese, with or without sausage. These tasty breakfast treats sell out fast, so make sure you get in early.
