Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits has taken the humble pie and biscuit of days gone by and restored them to our cherished delights. In the era of cronuts, cruffins, designer cupcakes and other trendy sweet treats, Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits has revitalized the classics. The menu is unpretentious – pies and biscuits, in a handful of flavors and rolling seasonal offerings.
Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits has a special relationship with its partners and suppliers. They pride themselves on their use of the freshest and highest quality ingredients, including bespoke leaf lard from Smoking Goose Meatery in Indianapolis, IN, and a custom coffee blend roasted by Gaslight Coffee Roasters, just down the street.
Both your sweet and savory cravings are well catered for at Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits. Just think warm biscuits ladened with fresh ham from Catalpa Grove Farms, Dijon butter, caramelized onion relish, and a house pickle – and for added indulgence, put an egg on it; your mouth will water just thinking about it. Or, for the Savory/Sweet lovers, the classic Sausage Biscuit with a ginger sage patty, cheddar cheese and seasonal jam is the perfect balance of delectable.
Of course you can’t just have a biscuit, you’ll need room for a slice of pie as well. The Fruit Pie menu is distinctly seasonal, you’ll only find fillings that were fresh from the market that morning. Other flavors also reflect the time of year – expect Pumpkin Pie in time for Thanksgiving, and cheer-you-up-chocolatiness through the winter gloom, as well as Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits‘ signature Honey Pie with a seasonal flair.
Other menu options and add-ons available include Candied Bacon, Grits du Jour, Salads and Cinnamon Rolls that will make you swoon.
The shop itself is cozy and welcoming; on cold winter days the windows are fogged in with the warmth inside pumping away. The rustic wooden tables beckon for a group to sit around and share a slice of pie, or two. There is a buzz in the atmosphere at Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits, with a busy kitchen bustling with box folding, dough rolling, baking, cooling, stacking. It’s a simple operation but they do it so well. In the warmer weather, the patio is like sitting in someone’s backyard with picnic tables dotted under a canopy of green leaves – perfect for those lazy hazy days of summer.
You can sit in and eat, take your day’s baked pleasure home – you can buy pie by the slice or the whole pie – or sample a slice at many other establishments around town; Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits are suppliers to a variety of local places, including Parson’s Chicken & Fish. And in a new collaboration, you can now have a ‘Da Smores’ Concrete featuring a slice of Bang Bang’s S’mores Pie at Shake Shack in River North.
Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits’ distinctive blue & white checkered paper – reminiscent of gingham tablecloths and napkins of picnics of yesteryear – will always catch your eye, and remain in your memory as way of calling you back for more.
